4,907 houses left abandoned in Selangor

SHAH ALAM: A total of 4,907 houses have been left abandoned in Selangor, said State Local Government, Public Transport and New Village Development Committee chairman Ng Sze Han (pix).

He said the state government has the right to seize the houses if it was found that the property owners have not paid the quit rent.

“There may be more abandoned houses which have not been reported by the assemblymen in the respective constituencies.

“We hope they will report on the abandoned houses to the local authorities (PBT) so that follow-up can be taken,“ he said in the state assembly sitting here yesterday.

He said 1,955 abandoned houses were identified in Shah Alam, Subang Jaya (568), Petaling Jaya (178) and Klang (114).

Elaborating Ng said the state government through the PBT would also issue a notice if the owners of the abandoned houses failed to clean up their properties. — Bernama
