Myanmar found stabbed, three countrymen arrested

NIBONG TEBAL: A Myanmar man was found dead, believed to have been stabbed by his countrymates, at their rented house in Taman Sintar here early today.

Seberang Perai Selatan (SPS) district police chief Supt Shafee Abdul Samad said police went to the scene following a report from a member of the public at 2.25 am on a fight at a two storey terrace house occupied by five Myanmar nationals.

“When police arrived at the house, they found the victim on the first floor in a pool of blood and with stab wounds all over the body,” he said, adding that police also found two machetes at the scene.

Police identified the victim as Vajarami, 24, a holder of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) card.

He said the victim’s younger brother , who was sleeping in a room in the house, did not realise the fight between his brother and the three other housemates, who fled after the incident.

However, police managed to arrest two of the housemates about two hours later at Pekan Nibong Tebal, while the other at the Penang Hospital while seeking treatment for an injury, he added.

Shafee said the three suspects, aged between 20 and 24, would be in remand to facilitate police investigation.

All of them did not have valid travel documents, he added. — Bernama
