NGO hopes M’sians will support New Norms campaign

KUALA LUMPUR: The Alliance For Safe Community hopes members of the public will support and abide the ‘Embracing New Norms’ campaign that was launched today.

Its chairman, Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pix), said this is important in a time now where the people themselves are the new frontlines and final defence in the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.

He said if Malaysian fail in their part to combat Covid-19, they will not only fail themselves but also their community, nation and future generations.

“There cannot be selective compliance with the new norms. Every existing and new standard operating procedure (SOP) must be fully and unequivocally adhered to. There is no room for laxity.

“The spike in cases from the Sivagangga cluster is the result of the lackadaisical attitude of diners who come, eat and go without recording their names or contact numbers,” he said in a statement today.

Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today launched the ‘Embracing New Norms’ campaign at the Pagoh Sports Complex in Johor.

The campaign, which will be carried out until December, aims at instilling self-disciplined practices among members of the community to curb the spread of the Covid-19 virus infection in the country. - Bernama
