Public-private partnership vital to support SMEs growth - MDEC

KUALA LUMPUR: The Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) is vital to support the growth of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in tandem with the national development agenda.

“When we wanted to help the SMEs, we look at what is already available and what are the things that probably are not there yet.

“This is where the government comes in to kick start and tail with the private sector to build the capability of the SMEs and track their progress towards the national agenda,” he said during a panel session at the SME Digital Summit today.

Muhundhan said the PPP intensify MDEC’s role to continuously give assistance and create more value to SMEs’ businesses in the long run.

Another panellist, Exabytes chief executive officer and founder Chan Kee Siak said the company’s collaboration with the government has garner positive outcome as it allows them to widen their target markets.

“By working closely and leveraging the community and influencer that MDEC has, it can reach out to more grassroot users like Makcik Kiah.

“In the meantime, through the collaboration with various parties, we work together and shout the same messages at the right and same timing, I think it will be heard by more people which is more impactful,” he said.
