Scheduled water cut in Lebuhraya Thean Teik, Air Itam on Dec 21

GEORGE TOWN: There will be a scheduled water supply disruption involving 9,000 consumers in Lebuhraya Thean Teik and areas near Air Itam here on Thursday (Dec 21).

Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP) chief executive officer K. Pathmanathan said the 12-hour disruption will be from 9 am to 9 pm and he advised the affected consumers to store sufficient water supply for their use.

He said the disruption was due to the connection of the water supply pipeline that had been moved to facilitate the Air Itam-Tun Dr Lim Chong Eu Expressway bypass road project.

“Work to connect the water supply pipeline on Thursday (Dec 21) will involve five places at two nearby locations, namely the junctions of Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Lintang Angsana and Lebuhraya Thean Teik/Farlim market,” he said in a statement today.

Pathmanathan said that to facilitate the pipe connection works, PBAPP had to temporarily close the 600mm MS (mild steel) pipeline in the area, resulting in the 12-hour scheduled water cut along Lebuhraya Thean Teik and areas near Air Itam.

“PBAPP apologises for the inconvenience caused by the disruption and all those affected are encouraged to store sufficient water for use from 9 am to 9 pm on Thursday (Dec 21),” he said.-Bernama
