SHAH ALAM: Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari today unveiled a state budget of RM2.56 billion based on six main thrusts of infrastructure, economy, education, social, rural development and health while prioritising physical development.

In presenting his maiden budget for the state at the State Legislative Assembly here today, Amirudin said the budget was equally divided between operating and development expenditures, with each receiving an allocation of RM1.28 billion.

“Out of RM1.28 billion allocated for operating expenditure, RM473.3 million will be utilised for emoluments, RM526.5 million for services and supplies, RM221.98 for fixed payments and charges, RM8.96 million for asset purchases and RM85.26 million for other expenses.

“The budget will have a deficit of RM360 million due to the substantive development allocation to meet the need for sustainable development,“ he said when presenting the Selangor 2019 Budget themed, “Enhancing the Economy, Empowering the People and Prospering the State’s Wellbeing”.

He said for the past 10 years, Selangor remained the largest contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product accounting for more than 20 per cent, adding that the state’s financial position, as of Nov 15, 2018, stood at RM2.34 billion. — Bernama
