Syed Saddiq orders police report over imposter’s claims

MUAR: Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman (pix) has asked his office to lodge a police report over a reported claim by an individual to be “an assistant of the Muar MP” and soliciting 30% commission for services.

The Youth and Sports Minister said he wanted “the impersonator” to be brought to justice.

“I entered politics to clean politics. I will not forget this principle,“ he said in a statement here yesterday.

Syed Saddiq thanked two Chinese dailies for having withdrawn and corrected a report about the “assistant of the Muar MP” who seeks 30% commission after finding out that the individual had nothing to do with his office.

“Next time, I advise, please check with me first. Be fair in reporting. I am very active on my press WhatsApp group chat and I include all journalists. Can ask me before publishing invalid (false) news,“ he said.

Meanwhile, DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang yesterday said diversion of 30% or any percentage of school allocation for any political purpose is sheer corruption and not permitted Pakatan Harapan (PH) practice.

It belongs to Barisan Nasional (BN) era of the past, and must be exposed and rooted out and individuals concerned punished according to the law and sacked if he holds any political office, the MP for Iskandar Putri said.

“Since 7pm yesterday, the Sin Chew street edition had carried a shocking front-page expose of compulsory diversion of 30% of school allocations in Muar allegedly by a special officer of an elected representative,“ Lim said in a statement.

“There can be no compromise with such corrupt practices and those who are guilty of such corrupt practices, regardless of which PH party they are from, must be prosecuted to the hilt without any mercy.”
