GOF tightens Malaysia-Thailand border security after Sungai Golok shooting

General Operations Force increases patrols and inspections following fatal shooting of Malaysian man in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat.

TUMPAT: The General Operations Force Southeast Brigade has enhanced security and intensified inspections along the Malaysia-Thailand border after a recent shooting incident in Sungai Golok, Narathiwat killed a Malaysian man.

Acting commander ACP Ijid Landu Binju stated that while border control measures have been strengthened, the force maintains constant vigilance and does not react solely to isolated events.

He emphasised that Malaysian security forces remain alert regardless of incidents occurring on the Thai side.

Ijid Landu revealed he has directed all officers and personnel stationed along the border to maintain high alert status and continue implementing preventive measures.

Roadblock inspections and patrols have been further tightened as precautionary steps to preserve border security and ensure effective control.

Bernama previously reported that a Malaysian man was shot dead last night at a house in Sungai Golok town, Narathiwat, in southern Thailand. – Bernama
