JPJ confirms the ‘EE’ vehicle registration series is fake, warns public against fraud, and has lodged a police report over the forged documents
KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has denied issuing or using the ‘EE’ vehicle registration index series circulating on social media.
Its director-general Datuk Aedy Fadly Ramli stated the department has never issued, introduced, or approved the ‘EE’ series.
“The approval letter circulating on social media is fake and constitutes a form of fraud that has the potential to confuse and deceive the public,” he said in a statement.
Preliminary investigations found that irresponsible parties unlawfully used the format and identity of official JPJ correspondence.
This included using letterheads, writing style, and a layout designed to mimic genuine department documents.
Aedy Fadly said these actions have caused public confusion and undermined the department’s credibility.
JPJ has lodged a police report to enable further investigations into the matter.
The department reminded the public to remain vigilant against dubious vehicle registration number offers.
It advised always verifying information through official JPJ channels to avoid becoming victims of fraud. – Bernama
