A 10-year-old boy was killed after a motorcycle he was on collided with a lorry in Pahi, Kuala Krai. His uncle, the rider, sustained minor injuries.
KUALA KRAI: A 10-year-old boy was killed in a road accident involving a motorcycle and a lorry on Wednesday.
The collision occurred at Jalan Kampung Chenis in Pahi at 10.55 am.
Kuala Krai district deputy police chief DSP Mohd Maizan Mustaffa said the lorry was travelling from the Kota Bharu-Gua Musang main road towards Kampung Chenis to deliver soil.
The motorcycle, ridden by the boy’s 35-year-old uncle, was heading to the victim’s grandfather’s house in Bukit Pelampong.
“The motorcycle collided with the right side of the lorry coming from the opposite direction,” Mohd Maizan said.
The boy, who was the pillion rider, sustained fatal head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His uncle suffered minor injuries in the crash.
The victim’s body was taken to the Forensic Unit of Sultan Ismail Petra Hospital for a post-mortem.
Police are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
