A Nepalese man’s double murder case in Bukit Mertajam postponed to November 26 for appointment of interpreter as accused doesn’t understand Bahasa Melayu.

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The mention of a case involving a Nepalese man in connection with the murder of a woman and her daughter in Kampung Sekolah Juru last month has been postponed to November 26.

Magistrate Nurul Rasyidah Mohd Akit set the date for the appointment of a Nepalese interpreter, as the accused, Dinesh Kumar Mandal, 35, does not understand Bahasa Melayu.

The court also denied bail to the accused, who is expected to be charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

Deputy public prosecutors Zulfadzli Hassan and Anis Suhada Rosli appeared for the prosecution, while the accused was unrepresented.

On October 18, Sariya Che Hin, 51, and her adopted daughter Nur Afrina Alisha Abdul Rahim, 11, were found dead in a house in Kampung Sekolah Juru.

The woman’s body was discovered in the kitchen and the girl’s body was found on the top floor.

Following the incident, police detained the woman’s husband for a week until October 25.

Police then arrested three Nepalese men, including Dinesh, to assist in the investigation. – Bernama
