Drawbridge incident: 12 Selangor FC fans charged with drug offences

Twelve Selangor FC supporters face drug charges in court after a pre-match commotion in Terengganu, with bail set and cases adjourned for reports.

KUALA TERENGGANU: Twelve Selangor FC supporters were charged in two magistrate’s courts here on Wednesday with drug possession and consumption offences.

All accused nodded in understanding as the charges were read separately before magistrates Iffah Nabihah Mohd Ishak and Noor Mazrinie Mahmood.

No pleas were recorded.

Muhammad Amirul Izham Anuwa, 26, faced two charges for possessing 1.12 grammes of cannabis and 0.37 grammes of nimetazipam at the Kuala Terengganu district police headquarters on February 2.

The charges fall under Section 6 and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, carrying potential fines of up to RM100,000 and imprisonment.

Magistrate Iffah Nabihah granted him bail of RM5,000 with one surety and set May 10 for mention pending a pathology report.

In the same court, Muhammad Amirul Izham and five others were charged under Section 15(1)(a) of the same act for allegedly injecting tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) into their bodies.

The co-accused are Akmal Haqim Amir Hamzah, 25; Asyraaf Syazwan Azman, 25; Mohamad Alif Aiman Abdullah, 26; Muhammd Akmal Hakim Abd Aziz, 29; and Adam Hakimi Misra, 20.

They were each granted bail of RM2,000 with one surety.

The court set May 10 for mention for Muhammad Amirul Izham, and April 5 and 6 for the other five, also awaiting reports.

Before Magistrate Noor Mazrinie, six more supporters faced charges for allegedly injecting drugs.

Muhamad Asyraf Azli, 25, was charged with injecting methamphetamine, while Ziyad Zulkifli, 26; Ahmad Naqiuddin Ahmad Nordzri, 29; Muhammad Afiq Haikal Gunawan, 27; Muhamad Syafiq Junaedi, 27; and Mohamad Shafirul Hisham Hassan, 26, were charged with injecting THC.

All six were granted bail of RM2,500 with one surety each, and their cases were set for mention on April 30.

Deputy public prosecutors Ely Nazihah Ahmad Yunus and Nur Anith Nabila Rusli prosecuted the cases.

All accused were represented by lawyers from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

Terengganu police chief Datuk Mohd Khairi Khairuddin said on Monday that 33 Selangor FC supporters were remanded.

The arrests were for drug-related offences and obstructing public servants following a commotion at the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge on Sunday evening.

The incident occurred around 6.30 pm before the Super League match between Terengganu FC and Selangor FC at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium.
