Court of Appeal allows Rosmah Mansor to keep passport until January 31 to visit daughter in Singapore, extending previous release period.
PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal has granted Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor a three-month extension for the release of her passport to visit her daughter in Singapore.
A three-member bench led by Justice Datuk Azman Abdullah approved the application by Rosmah’s counsel Datuk Akberdin Abdul Kader.
Justices Datuk Azmi Ariffin and Datuk Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid completed the panel that heard the unopposed application.
Deputy public prosecutor P Sarulatha did not object to the passport extension request during the proceedings.
Rosmah’s lawyer explained to reporters that the extension would allow his client to visit her daughter who recently gave birth.
The court has ordered Rosmah to return her passport by January 31 next year.
This extension continues the passport release previously authorised from July 24 until the present date.
Rosmah was convicted on September 1, 2022, on three corruption charges involving 1.25 billion ringgit.
The charges related to a hybrid solar project for schools in Sarawak during her husband’s premiership.
The High Court sentenced her to 10 years imprisonment on each count to run concurrently.
She also received a 970 million ringgit fine with a 30-year default prison sentence if unpaid.
Execution of both prison sentence and fine remains stayed pending her appeal outcome.
The Court of Appeal has scheduled a case management hearing for November 3. – Bernama
