Police raid Chow Kit health club, arresting 208 including 17 civil servants for suspected unnatural sexual activities after two-week surveillance.
KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested 208 people during a raid on a health club in Chow Kit suspected of hosting unnatural sexual activities.
Seventeen civil servants were among those detained in the Thursday evening operation conducted by the Kuala Lumpur Strike Force.
Kuala Lumpur Police deputy chief Datak Mohd Azani Omar said the raid followed two weeks of intelligence-gathering and surveillance.
“We detained 201 patrons and seven employees aged between 19 and 60, including 24 foreigners,” he told reporters at the scene.
Authorities seized condoms and other items believed used for immoral purposes during the nearly four-hour operation.
The two-storey premises had operated for eight to ten months, opening from 5 pm to 11 pm on weekdays and 3 pm to 11 pm on weekends.
Mohd Azani said the health centre promoted through TikTok and word-of-mouth referrals from regular customers.
“Visitors were charged RM35 per entry, while new customers paid RM10 registration fee for membership cards,” he explained.
All suspects were taken to Dang Wangi Police Headquarters for urine screening and further investigation.
Police are investigating the case under Section 377B of the Penal Code for unnatural offences.
Bernama observed that visitors came from diverse backgrounds including professionals, students and foreign tourists.
Most admitted learning about the premises through social media platforms.
The club featured several enclosed spaces including small rooms and semi-dark areas alongside sauna and jacuzzi facilities.
Some visitors attempted to cover their faces and escape during the raid but were unable to avoid detention. – Bernama
