MACC searches IJM offices and a top executive’s home, freezes RM15.8 million in accounts, and investigates RM2.5 billion in assets
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has raided four locations, including the office and residence of a senior IJM Corporation Bhd executive.
The searches are part of ‘Op Heart’, an investigation into corporate governance, procurement, financial transactions, and overseas assets worth an estimated RM2.5 billion.
A source said the anti-graft agency also froze 55 private and company bank accounts containing approximately RM15.8 million.
The probe is concurrently focusing on tracing and seizing other assets believed to be acquired through money laundering.
Recording of statements from two top company executives began yesterday and will continue today, with five more witnesses to be called.
“To date, a total of nine recorded statements have been taken, including those of the two top management of the companies involved,” the source added.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed the investigation is being conducted under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering Act.
Previous reports indicated MACC was investigating allegations involving IJM, with a Tan Sri-ranked top manager and an advisor identified as persons of interest.
