Man arrested for circulating obscene photos of teenage ex-girlfriend

A 40-year-old man was arrested for allegedly distributing obscene photos of his 17-year-old former girlfriend via a college WhatsApp group.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for allegedly circulating obscene photographs of his 17-year-old former girlfriend through WhatsApp.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said the 40-year-old suspect was apprehended last Sunday at 9.35 pm in Saujana Putra, Kajang.

The arrest followed a police report filed last Thursday by staff at a private college regarding the distribution of obscene and humiliating photographs.

The images, believed to belong to a former female student, were circulated within the college students’ WhatsApp group.

“Acting on information, police arrested the victim’s former boyfriend, who is unemployed, and seized a mobile phone to assist with the investigation,” Naazron said in a statement.

The suspect has been remanded for three days until tomorrow to assist with the investigation.

The case is being investigated under Section 509 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Multimedia Communications Act 1998.

Naazron urged anyone with information to contact their nearest police station or the investigating officer Sergeant Siti Aidah Yem at 010-2176278. – Bernama
