Selangor police say initial probe finds no proof MACC officers pointed a gun at businessman Albert Tei, with investigations ongoing
SHAH ALAM: Police have yet to find evidence supporting allegations that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission officers pointed a firearm at businessman Albert Tei during his arrest.
Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said this follows initial investigations and statements from all MACC personnel involved and Tei’s wife, the complainant.
He advised the public against speculation that could interfere with the ongoing probe.
Several witnesses have been called, though Shazeli declined to disclose the exact number.
Only the complainant’s family members have yet to give statements as they are believed to be out of the area.
Shazeli confirmed police have obtained CCTV footage from the residence and telephone recordings for forensic analysis.
He declined to reveal the number of CCTV recordings obtained, citing the active investigation.
The recordings will be examined, and Tei’s wife will be recalled for further evidence.
A police inquiry paper has been opened to investigate the allegations.
MACC officers involved in the raid were equipped with body-worn cameras and recording devices.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki previously said the commission lodged a police report to allow a proper investigation.
Azam stated Tei’s arrest followed established procedures, denying any officer pointed a firearm at the businessman. – Bernama
