Flood-affected SPM 2025 candidates successfully relocated for exams

Education Minister confirms SPM 2025 candidates moved safely during floods, with OPS Payung ensuring exam continuity and school repairs underway.

ARAU: SPM 2025 candidates affected by recent flooding have been successfully relocated without disruption to their examination schedule.

Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek confirmed the relocation allowed students adequate preparation time for their upcoming exams.

She praised the coordinated efforts of multiple agencies including NADMA, APM, and PDRM in managing the situation effectively.

“I extend my thanks to all agencies that have worked tirelessly to ensure our students can face the SPM exams smoothly without disruption,” Fadhlina told reporters after visiting the SK Changkat Jawi relief centre.

The minister expressed satisfaction with agency preparedness through OPS Payung, activated when weather conditions became unpredictable.

Her ministry continues monitoring the situation closely with relevant disaster management authorities.

Fadhlina emphasized ongoing readiness for potential secondary flooding through the OPS Payung framework.

“We have OPS Payung, and it will guide important decisions including the relocation process, opening of relief centres, and so on,” she added.

Home-Based Teaching and Learning continues for flood-affected schools based on institutional requests.

PdPR will persist until damaged schools are cleaned and declared ready for normal operations.

The cleaning process proceeds immediately to facilitate students’ swift return when conditions improve.

Infrastructure damage assessment is underway at affected educational facilities nationwide.

Most damage involves workshops, laboratories, sports halls, and staff rooms according to ministry observations.

Restoration work is expected to conclude before the next academic session begins.

Sekolah Sukan Perlis was among institutions reporting significant infrastructure damage.

Fadhlina confirmed focusing comprehensively on all flood-related educational challenges.

Agency coordination remains crucial for managing both current and potential future flooding incidents.
