The full report on the ECRL temporary structure collapse at Batu Caves is expected within two weeks, says Human Resources Ministry
REMBU: The full report on the temporary structure collapse at the East Coast Rail Link project on Jalan Lingkaran Tengah 2 in Batu Caves is expected to be ready within two weeks.
Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof said relevant authorities including the Department of Occupational Safety and Health have visited the site and are collecting information.
“We will wait about a week to a week and a half to obtain the report’s findings,” he told reporters after launching the Kesuma MADANI Adopted Village Programme at Sekolah Kebangsaan Chembong.
“Based on that, we will then determine the next steps, whether it involves court action or other measures.”
He described the incident as a technical matter with many aspects to consider, including legal context.
“We need to know the cause of this incident — whether it was due to technical aspects or not following the scope,” he said.
Any possibilities including negligence, technical faults, or non-compliance with standard operating procedures will be determined once the investigation is completed.
Azman advised all parties involved in construction work to adhere to workplace safety regulations to prevent similar incidents.
Last Wednesday, Deputy Minister of Human Resources Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Mohamad said the collapse was believed to have been caused by a collision involving the boom of the crane used for paint thickness inspections.
Regarding today’s programme, Azman said Kampung Chembong Batu 17A and Kampung Air Hitam were selected as the ministry’s adopted villages.
