The government is obtaining the latest data on 36 Malaysian umrah pilgrims reportedly stranded in Makkah before taking any action.
BACHOK: The government will obtain the latest data and facts regarding 36 Malaysian umrah pilgrims reported to be stranded in Makkah, Saudi Arabia.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Dr Zulkifli Hasan said the matter needed to be examined carefully before any action was taken.
“We need to thoroughly examine the matter as a whole because it involves various issues and aspects,” he told reporters after a housing handover event in Kampung Aman, Kandis.
Local media reported earlier that the pilgrims in Madinah lacked return flight tickets and had urged the involved travel agency to take responsibility.
Zulkifli emphasised that a comprehensive review is necessary due to the complexity of the situation.
