IMAT Carnival sales hit RM12.34 million, surpass RM10 million target

The Food and Agro-based Industry Carnival 2025 has recorded RM12.34 million in sales, exceeding its initial RM10 million target, says FAMA

KLANG: The Food and Agro-based Industry Carnival (IMAT) 2025 has recorded total sales of RM12.34 million, surpassing its initial target of RM10 million.

Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) director-general Abdul Rashid Bahri said the event this year covered 15 parliamentary constituencies and eight state-level locations.

“We also aim to organise IMAT in 30 locations and currently we have reached 26 locations with a sales value of RM12.34 million,” he said.

He attributed the success to the support of entrepreneurs and cooperation from state governments in attracting visitors.

The carnival will next move to Alor Gajah in Melaka, Arau in Perlis, Alor Setar in Kedah, and Parit Buntar in Perak.

Abdul Rashid was speaking after the opening ceremony of the IMAT @ Selangor Carnival, also attended by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security’s deputy secretary-general (development) Datuk Luqman Ahmad.

For the Selangor state-level carnival, Abdul Rashid said it targets RM500,000 in sales and aims to attract 25,000 visitors.

He said the event benefits 130 entrepreneurs and promotes agro-based products as a high-potential business sector.

“The carnival is also a platform to attract the younger generation to see agricultural marketing as a profitable and modern career,” he added.

Luqman said visitors to the Selangor carnival can enjoy price reductions of 5% to 30% on various basic goods and food products.

The price cuts are an effort to help the public obtain fresh goods and necessities at reasonable prices.

The IMAT @ Selangor Carnival features sales of agro-based products, popular food, a People Market, and floriculture and local fruit displays.

It also includes Ehsan Rahmah Sales, ANGKASA sales, and limited IMAT Combos and Madani Combos priced at RM10 each.

The carnival is being held at the AEON Mall Bukit Tinggi parking lot in Klang until tomorrow. – Bernama
