Four foreign workers were arrested at a Kampung Baru eatery for overstaying and lacking valid documents following a week of surveillance.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has arrested four foreign nationals during a raid on a popular eatery in Kampung Baru.
The operation, codenamed Ops Selera, was conducted yesterday following a week of surveillance by 11 immigration officers.
Kuala Lumpur Immigration director Wan Mohammed Saupee Wan Yusoff said the four men, aged between 30 and 40, were detained.
“Investigations found the four foreign nationals, two Bangladeshis and one each from Pakistan and Indonesia, had overstayed, lacked valid documents and breached employment rules,” he said in a statement today.
Initial findings indicate the workers had been employed at the eatery for five to six months.
A statement was also recorded from a local man believed to be the supervisor managing the workers.
The case is being investigated under Regulation 39(b) and Sections 15(1) and 6(1)(c) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963.
