12,645 Indian entrepreneurs receive RM250 million in KUSKOP financing

KUSKOP disbursed RM249.8 million to 12,645 Indian entrepreneurs through SPUMI, PENN, BRIEF-i, and Vanigham financing schemes in 2024.

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 12,645 Indian entrepreneurs have received RM249.8 million in financing through various Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives programmes this year.

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri R. Ramanan said the funding was distributed through multiple initiatives including the Indian Community Entrepreneur Development Scheme.

Other schemes include the Special Fund for Indian Women Empowerment, Bank Rakyat Indian Entrepreneur Financing-i, and SME Bank’s Vanigham Financing for Indian Entrepreneurs.

“KUSKOP remains committed to empowering entrepreneurs nationwide, including Indian entrepreneurs,” he told the Dewan Rakyat.

Ramanan stated this commitment aligns with the 2030 National Entrepreneurship Policy and Malaysia MADANI vision for inclusive socio-economic development.

The ministry is also streamlining financing procedures by reducing approval times significantly.

TEKUN Nasional applications now require only an identity card copy, company registration document, three months’ bank statements, and business premises photos.

“Approval process has also been improved, taking just seven days, compared with up to 21 days for many other banks,” Ramanan added. – Bernama
