Kedah’s 2025 tourism campaign will help drive Visit Malaysia Year 2026’s goal of 40 million tourists through unique cultural and natural experiences.
ALOR SETAR: The Visit Kedah Year 2025 campaign will significantly boost Visit Malaysia Year 2026’s target of attracting 40 million tourists, according to State Tourism, Culture and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Datuk Mohd Salleh Saidin.
He said the state’s tourism campaign has drawn more visitors to both established and emerging attractions in Langkawi and the rapidly developing mainland.
“Under the theme ‘Experience Kedah’, tourists are encouraged to see, taste, and fully immerse themselves in the unique experiences the state has to offer,” he told reporters at the Pacific Asia Travel Association Malaysia Inter-State Tourism Networking Forum.
VKY2025 focuses on five key pillars: history, culture, arts, natural beauty, and gastronomy.
Mohd Salleh noted that Kedah’s existing attractions are gaining greater attention while new tourism products and events are rapidly emerging.
He said the state government offers full support to tourism industry players exploring Kedah’s unique and promising tourism offerings.
“Kedah offers a range of captivating destinations from the heights of Gunung Jerai to Lake Pedu, from Dayang Bunting to Pulau Songsong,” he added.
The state also features Sungai Batu, home to Southeast Asia’s oldest civilisation, and Kuala Kedah with its legendary Perang Musuh Bisik historical site.
Visitors can experience sweeping padi fields, fruit orchards, traditional performances like Mek Mulong and Cinta Sayang dance, and local delicacies including Kedah laksa and Gulai Temenung.
This diverse offering not only strengthens domestic tourism but also positions Malaysia as a preferred regional destination. – Bernama
