Kelantan deputy MB says no illegal gold sales found on state land despite social media reports, with agencies monitoring mining compliance
KOTA BHARU: The Kelantan government has confirmed no illegal gold sales have occurred on state-owned land to date.
Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohamed Fadzli Hassan said most reports originated from social media posts containing personal opinions rather than verified violations.
“Most reports were via social media, and after studying these reports, they are merely opinions,” he told the State Legislative Assembly today.
He confirmed authorities found no evidence of illegal gold sales or regulatory breaches during their investigations.
Mohamed Fadzli said the government continues studying the matter while awaiting complete reports from relevant agencies.
Several approaches have been implemented to ensure gold mining operators comply with established guidelines.
He was responding to Datuk Mohd Syahbuddin Hashim’s query about gold mining investigations in Kusial, Tanah Merah.
Mohamed Fadzli noted that agencies like the Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia and Environment Department handle mining compliance issues.
These departments will take appropriate action under their legal provisions if any non-compliance is detected during mining operations.
The state government remains vigilant in monitoring gold mining activities across Kelantan. – Bernama
