MACC says it will investigate the KLIA Aerotrain project if signs of corruption or power abuse surface, amid ongoing delays and public scrutiny.
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) says it will launch a probe into the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Aerotrain project if any indications of corruption or abuse of power arise.
Its Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Azam Baki confirmed that no investigation papers have been opened thus far on the Aerotrain project, which has faced persistent delays and service interruptions despite being worth hundreds of millions of ringgit, New Straits Times reported.
“As of now, we have not received any complaints or information regarding the matter,” he was quoted as saying.
The Aerotrain replacement project has been under public scrutiny following repeated breakdowns that disrupted airport operations and inconvenienced passengers.
