KUALA LUMPUR: The framework for the Malaysia Tahfiz Education Model is currently under development to provide guidance and harmonise the tahfiz education system nationwide.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar stated that the model comprises four distinct educational approaches.
These four models are Academic Tahfiz, Turath Tahfiz, Technical and Vocational Education and Training Tahfiz, and Tahfiz Intervention.
He confirmed that all four models are within the development framework and are anticipated for completion soon.
The implementation of these models will be standardised across states for all registered tahfiz institutions.
This framework will serve as a guideline to determine the future direction of tahfiz institutions in Malaysia.
Mohd Na’im provided this information in response to a question during a Special Chamber session in the Dewan Rakyat.
He revealed that a workshop discussing the framework was conducted on May 16.
This workshop involved various agencies including the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development.
Representatives from universities and tahfiz institutions also participated in the workshop.
The government had previously introduced the National Tahfiz Education Policy.
This policy was formulated to add value and strengthen the existing policy to meet current needs.
It also addresses the employability issues faced by tahfiz graduates.
Two core thrusts of the National Tahfiz Education Policy form the basis for the Malaysia Tahfiz Education Model development.
These thrusts are establishing a standard tahfiz institutional model and creating a tahfiz education curriculum aligned with mainstream education. – Bernama
