J-KOM adviser says the MADANI philosophy addresses public anxiety, cost of living, and misinformation to restore trust and national pride.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysia MADANI concept is a substantive framework designed to ease public anxiety and promote daily wellbeing, not merely a political slogan.
Datuk Dr Budiman Mohd Zohdi, Strategic Adviser to the Community Communications Department (J-KOM), said the philosophy was created to address contemporary challenges like cost-of-living pressures, security issues, and misinformation.
“In simple terms, people want to feel safe, earn a living, and take pride in being Malaysian,” he said during an appearance on Bernama Radio.
Budiman stated that MADANI seeks to address these core needs based on today’s realities.
He highlighted that the pillars of wellbeing and compassion are most visible to the public through initiatives like MADANI Rahmah Sales, cash aid, and the BUDI 95 programme.
This approach demonstrates the government is listening to feedback and dynamically adjusting policies within its financial constraints.
“When certain groups feel existing aid is insufficient, the government reviews and adjusts policies, showing they are dynamic and evolving rather than fixed,” he explained.
On public understanding, Budiman noted awareness is rising though perceptions differ between urban and rural areas.
He urged the public to handle information responsibly on social media to prevent the spread of misleading content that erodes institutional trust.
“In a democracy, criticism is necessary but must be respectful, fact-based, and accompanied by solutions,” he added.
Budiman stressed that MADANI’s success relies on all ministries and citizens working together to build a healthy national communication ecosystem.
“If everyone plays their part, MADANI will remain relevant today and in the future,” he concluded.
