Malaysia Techlympics 2025 draws over 1.8 million student entries

Malaysia Techlympics 2025 attracts 1.8 million student entries with 4,750 finalists competing across 35 national competitions in Melaka.

MELAKA: The Malaysia Techlympics 2025 has drawn 1,804,954 student entries during its preliminary stage across all national zones.

Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation Chang Lih Kang revealed that 4,750 participants from 1,289 teams competed in the two-day National Zone Stage Finals.

The finals concluded today with 35 competitions held at the Melaka International Trade Centre.

Registration for the event opened in May, attracting widespread participation from students nationwide.

MOSTI implemented 85 outreach programmes through its inclusivity initiative to encourage participation among rural students.

“We are committed to ensuring that the nation’s young generation is prepared for a future driven by emerging technologies,” Chang stated.

He highlighted autonomous robotics and artificial intelligence as key technologies gaining traction across multiple sectors.

The closing ceremony was officiated by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

Chang emphasised that MOSTI’s efforts to strengthen the STI agenda require strong commitment from state governments.

This approach is crucial for developing future industries including space technology, rare earth elements, and green technology.

Close federal-state cooperation is vital for creating a comprehensive innovation ecosystem, he added.

The Malaysia Techlympics 2025 also attracted international participants from Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia, China and Mongolia.

The programme secured two Malaysia Book of Records achievements for largest STEM competition participation and most drones flown simultaneously indoors.

The event demonstrated MOSTI’s commitment to building a knowledge-based economy through youth engagement in technology. – Bernama
