Malaysia keeps toll rates unchanged for 10 major highways in 2025

The Malaysian government will maintain toll rates on 10 highways next year, absorbing an estimated RM591.56 million cost to benefit daily users.

PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has pledged to maintain quality service standards following the government’s decision to freeze toll rates on 10 major highways next year.

LLM director-general Datuk Sazali Harun said concessionaires would be closely monitored to ensure highway operations and maintenance meet set standards.

He stated that user interests would be protected through safe, smooth, and quality highway services.

Upgrades to rest and service areas and lay-bys will continue, including the installation of electric vehicle chargers.

Traffic flow management will also be strengthened to reduce congestion and shorten travel times.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced the toll rate maintenance on Thursday to protect public welfare.

The affected highways are the Cheras-Kajang Expressway, Kuala Lumpur-Kuala Selangor Expressway, and New North Klang Strait Bypass.

Also included are the Senai-Desaru Expressway, East Coast Expressway Phase 2, and South Klang Valley Expressway.

The Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah Bridge, Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway, Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya Expressway, and Butterworth Outer Ring Expressway complete the list.

Sazali said the decision reflects the MADANI Government’s priority of putting highway users’ interests first.

He noted it aligns with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s July 23 announcement that people would enjoy existing rates without increase.

The government will bear an estimated financial implication of RM591.56 million with this move.

This initiative is expected to benefit nearly one million highway users daily. – Bernama
