Malaysia’s National Unity Index reaches 0.7, achieving the 13MP goal and showing improved relations among diverse communities, says minister
BUTTERWORTH: The National Unity Index has achieved its 0.7 target this year, reflecting improved relations among Malaysia’s diverse communities.
National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang confirmed the index reached the 13th Malaysia Plan goal during The Great Pilgrimage of Hope 2025 programme.
“This achievement shows an increase compared with previous studies which were around 0.5 to 0.6,” he told reporters.
The full study report will be announced early next year according to the minister.
IPNas is the government’s sole index for measuring national unity levels among Malaysians.
The first study in 2018 recorded 0.567, while the index rose to 0.629 in 2022.
Aaron attributed the positive development to the ministry’s continuous efforts through various unity initiatives.
“These initiatives include awareness campaigns, dialogues and various interaction platforms,” he explained.
The minister stressed his ministry remains committed to implementing the unity agenda.
The four-day conference brought together 777 delegates from 24 Asian countries and other regions. – Bernama
