Flood evacuees in Perak and Selangor continue to return home, with relief centres still open in Perlis and Pahang as river levels remain safe.
KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Perak and Selangor continued to improve this morning, with a further decline in the number of evacuees, while figures in Perlis and Pahang remained unchanged.
In Perak, the number of victims dropped to 1,455 people from 430 families, currently housed at 11 temporary relief centres (PPS) across three districts, compared with 1,539 evacuees from 470 families reported last night.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat, Hilir Perak continued to register the highest number of evacuees at 736, followed by Bagan Datuk (421) and Manjung (298).

The Malaysian Meteorological Department said several districts, including Larut, Matang and Selama, Kerian, Manjung, Perak Tengah, Hilir Perak and Muallim, are forecast to experience morning showers, with thunderstorms expected in the afternoon and evening.
In Selangor, the number of evacuees declined to 306 people from 104 families this morning, compared with 429 people from 134 families last night.
According to the Social Welfare Department’s Info Bencana portal, five PPS remain operational in the affected districts of Kuala Selangor, Hulu Langat and Sabak Bernam.
Meanwhile, the Perlis JPBN reported that the number of evacuees at the Sekolah Kebangsaan Felcra Lubuk Sireh PPS in Padang Besar remains unchanged at 15 people this morning.
In Pahang, seven members of a family continue to seek shelter at a PPS in Kuantan, with no change in numbers since last night.
Data from the Public Infobanjir portal also showed that water levels in all major rivers in the state remain below the danger threshold this morning. – Bernama
