Pahang KPDN logs 930 cases from 86,504 inspections in 11 months

Pahang KPDN conducted over 86,000 inspections, recorded 930 cases, and seized RM2.31 million in goods from January to November.

PEKAN: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) in Pahang conducted 86,504 inspections on business premises across the state from January to November.

Its director, Jezlily Jamaluddin, said the operations resulted in 930 recorded cases involving various offences.

The inspections led to seizures amounting to RM2.31 million and compounds totalling RM258,020.

“During the same period, we received 1,108 complaints, including 430 related to pricing issues and 95 involving the supply of controlled goods,” she said.

Jezlily was speaking at a press conference held in conjunction with the launch of the state-level Pasar PATUH programme at Pasar Besar Pekan.

She said the Pasar PATUH programme begins as a pilot project at that market.

It aims to ensure traders display prices clearly and use accurate weighing equipment.

The programme also focuses on maintaining a clean, safe and orderly market environment.

“The programme will be expanded gradually to other major markets in Pahang,” she added.

Jezlily stated this initiative is both an advocacy effort and a comprehensive enforcement strategy.

It seeks to increase trader awareness of legal compliance and encourage healthy competition for consumers.

Pahang currently has 26 main public markets with 1,050 business premises across seven districts.

These districts include Kuantan, Pekan, Temerloh, Jerantut, Rompin, Bera and Raub.

Jezlily said this makes the sector a key one requiring continuous monitoring.

On the rise of vegetable prices during the monsoon season, she said the ministry regularly monitors current prices.

The ministry also conducts field inspections to curb excessive price hikes. – Bernama
