A bus and lorry crash on the PLUS expressway near Rawang injured 15 people, with three in serious condition and five victims initially trapped
KUALA LUMPUR: Fifteen people were injured in an accident involving an express bus and a three-tonne lorry on the North-South Expressway early this morning.
The crash occurred at KM441.2 of the southbound PLUS expressway between Sungai Buaya and Rawang.
Three of the injured victims were in serious condition, according to the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department.
The department received an emergency call about the incident at 5.24am.
Fire engines from the Rawang station arrived at the scene at 5.51am.
The express bus was carrying 40 passengers and two drivers at the time of the accident.
Thirty-eight passengers managed to exit the bus safely following the crash.
Four victims were trapped inside the bus, while the lorry driver was also trapped in his vehicle.
All injured victims were transported to Sungai Buloh Hospital for treatment.

Eight victims were treated in the green zone, four in the yellow zone, and three in the red zone.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), via X, said that the right and middle lanes, northbound, remained closed as of 9.23 am, with traffic reported to be at a standstill for nearly five kilometres.
Highway users are advised to plan their journeys and use alternative routes, with heavy vehicles advised to exit at the Bukit Beruntung Toll Plaza, while light vehicles are advised to exit at the Sungai Buaya Toll Plaza.
Following the accident, a contra lane has also been activated.
