Concrete barriers block Gua Musang-Lojing road after landslide

Police install concrete barriers and issue summonses to stop motorists using a collapsed road section near Pos Blau following a landslide

GUA MUSANG: Concrete barriers have been installed to block access to a collapsed section of the Gua Musang-Lojing Road following a landslide.

The Public Works Department (JKR) deployed the barriers to prevent road users from passing the dangerous area near Pos Blau.

Gua Musang district police chief Superintendent Sik Choon Foo said concession company Roadcare (M) Sdn Bhd installed the barriers at two locations.

The barriers are at KM 44 of the Gua Musang-Lojing Road and KM 48 of the Lojing-Gua Musang Road.

“We hope road users, including motorcyclists, will not risk their lives by travelling through the affected landslide area,” Sik said.

He confirmed police have already issued two summonses to motorcyclists who violated the road closure order.

Authorities can impose a RM500 compound on individuals who violate the closure under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

The road was closed after a landslide at KM 45 on December 3 caused a vehicle to fall into a ravine.

A teenage boy driving the vehicle broke his left arm in the incident.

Kelantan JKR director Nik Badlihisham Nik Ismail said his department is studying the repair work for the collapsed site.

Officers from the JKR Slope Engineering Branch conducted an inspection on December 3.

“The collapsed road is still under study for repairs,” Nik Badlihisham said.

He advised users to take the existing federal road as an alternative route.

The Gua Musang-Lojing FT185 road at Section 107.6 has been completely closed to all vehicles since December 3. – Bernama
