Eight hikers stranded at Bukit Larut after three sustain injuries

Three hikers injured at Bukit Larut resort prompt rescue operation involving fire department, police, and management personnel

IPOH: Eight individuals became stranded at the Bukit Larut Resort in Taiping after three of them sustained injuries during a hiking activity.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah confirmed that three female hikers suffered injuries, with two experiencing leg cramps and another sustaining a sprained ankle.

The remaining five hikers, comprising three women and two men, remained uninjured throughout the incident.

A team from the Taiping Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene approximately four kilometres away following an emergency call received at 6.53 pm.

Seven victims were located at the hilltop upon arrival, while one male hiker had descended to the foothill to seek assistance.

The operation commander implemented the LAST concept, directing firefighters alongside police and Bukit Larut management personnel to proceed uphill for the rescue operation.

Rescuers successfully located all victims midway down from the reported site with assistance from a civilian guide.

The woman with the sprained ankle received initial treatment at the scene before all victims were safely transported to the foothill. – Bernama
