Father awaiting first child fatally shot in Thailand’s Sungai Golok

Malaysian man Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali was shot 18 times outside his Sungai Golok home, one month before his first child’s expected birth

PASIR MAS: A Malaysian family has been left devastated after 33-year-old Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali was fatally shot outside his home in Sungai Golok, Thailand, just one month before the expected birth of his first child.

His mother Zaiton Abdul Rahman expressed heartbreak upon learning of her son’s death and seeing his body returned from Narathiwat.

Mohd Fuad had travelled to Thailand to prepare for the birth of his first child before this tragic incident occurred.

The victim was laid to rest this afternoon at Kampung Apam Muslim Cemetery in Apam Putra following prayers at Masjid Kubur Besar.

Zaiton revealed that her daughter-in-law Wan Fatihah Mat Hussin informed her that Mohd Fuad was shot multiple times around 7 pm.

He was rushed to Sungai Golok Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9 pm due to severe internal injuries.

“I do not know the exact motive, though my daughter-in-law said the suspect had borrowed money from him,” Zaiton told reporters.

She urged Thai authorities to take immediate action and arrest the perpetrators responsible for her son’s death.

Wan Fatihah recounted the horrifying moment when two individuals arrived at their house while Mohd Fuad was installing a closed-circuit television system.

The assailants opened fire with two pistols, causing Mohd Fuad to collapse immediately.

“I immediately held him, but the assailants continued firing until their ammunition ran out before fleeing in a car,” she told reporters at the cemetery.

Hospital reports confirmed the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his back and neck.

Medical examination revealed Mohd Fuad had been shot 18 times during the brutal attack.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed that a Malaysian man had died in a shooting outside a house in Sungai Golok.

The incident occurred in Narathiwat, Thailand last night according to official police statements. – Bernama
