Selangor MB says fate of 19 residents affected by West Coast Expressway project will be known next week after final meeting.

KUALA SELANGOR: The fate of 19 residents who are also landowners affected by the West Coast Expressway project in Kampung Jawa, Klang, will be known as early as next week.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the decision will be reached in a special meeting involving state government representatives, WCE, and relevant ministries to address various outstanding issues.

He stated the meeting will be held on November 3 to review the latest developments of the project, including several technical issues and misunderstandings that have arisen among residents in the affected area.

Amirudin added that after that final meeting, authorities will have a definitive decision, with several technical issues and misunderstandings already identified and currently being remedied.

The state government remains committed to ensuring the WCE project is fully completed without compromising the rights and interests of the affected residents.

Amirudin emphasised that the state government stands firm in its commitment to resolving this matter in the best possible manner.

He noted they have informed WCE and also held discussions with the relevant ministries to ensure that justice is served to all parties involved.

The Menteri Besar stressed that everyone should understand the state government is not neglecting residents’ complaints but is ensuring every decision is made comprehensively and responsibly.

He further explained that most of the misunderstandings that had previously arisen stemmed from technical issues and miscommunication among the involved parties.

The WCE construction issue in Kampung Jawa has drawn public attention after reports emerged that 19 residents refused to relocate despite most land acquisition being completed.

The WCE project connects Banting, Selangor, to Taiping, Perak, as one of the strategic infrastructure projects under the First Selangor Plan.

This expressway aims to strengthen transportation and logistics networks along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Several stretches of the expressway in Selangor have reportedly faced land acquisition and technical adjustment issues.

These challenges have led to construction delays and complaints from residents in the affected areas. – Bernama
