Flood victims in Sarawak increase to 3,111 people, while Sabah’s count stays at 366 as relief centres remain active across affected districts
KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims at relief centres in Sarawak has increased this morning, while the figure in Sabah remains unchanged.
In Sarawak, the total rose to 3,111 people from 962 families as of 8 am, up from 2,802 people from 864 families yesterday evening.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee stated that 25 relief centres are still active across Serian, Siburan, Sibu, Selangau, Bintulu and Sebau.
The centre at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tanah Puteh in Serian recorded the highest number with 431 individuals from 125 families.
It was followed by the Dewan Masyarakat Serian centre with 325 victims and the Dewan Suarah Bintulu centre with 306 victims.
In Sabah, the number of victims held steady at 366 people from 138 families housed at two centres in the Beaufort district.
The Sabah JPBN Secretariat said 328 victims from 123 families are at the Permanent Evacuation Centre at Dewan Slago.
The remaining 38 people from 15 families are at the relief centre at Dewan Sri Dayang Shahbandar in Padas Damit.
