Immigration officers detained 17 foreigners in a Klang Sentral raid on a suspected prostitution den, seizing sex-related items and arresting a ‘captain’
KUALA LUMPUR: Immigration officers detained 17 foreign nationals during a raid at Klang Sentral in Selangor.
The operation last night targeted a three-storey shoplot suspected of operating as a prostitution premises run by foreign workers.
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the detainees, aged 21 to 32, consisted of eight Bangladeshi men and nine Vietnamese women.
“The raid was carried out based on public complaints and two weeks of intelligence gathering by the Immigration Department,” he said in a statement.
Offences identified included overstaying and lacking valid travel documents.
Investigations found the operation was managed by a Bangladeshi ‘captain’ under a local man known as ‘Kevin’.
Zakaria said the women were earning between RM400 and RM600 a day.
Various sex-related items were also seized during the operation.
All detainees are now held at the Immigration Detention Depot in Putrajaya for further action. – Bernama
