Johor MB Onn Hafiz advises residents in flood-prone areas to remain vigilant and follow official instructions as continuous rain warning issued.
JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor government has urged residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to remain vigilant about weather updates and follow official instructions.
Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said his office received the latest advisory from the Malaysian Meteorological Department.
A continuous rain warning at alert status has been issued for Segamat and Tangkak districts this Friday and Saturday.
“A low-pressure system over the Strait of Malacca is expected to move eastward across Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Pahang,” he said.
This system has potential to bring prolonged rainfall to northern Johor.
The state government and all security and disaster management agencies are on standby.
They are monitoring river water levels, preparing logistics, and coordinating response measures in high-risk areas.
These preparations ensure necessary assistance can be deployed immediately if weather conditions worsen.
“May Allah ease our affairs and protect Johor from all calamities,” Onn Hafiz added in his Facebook post. – Bernama
