Kelantan’s NSC targets 96 more illegal jetties on Sungai Golok for demolition by March, following the removal of 25 structures as part of border security efforts.
PASIR MAS: The Kelantan National Security Council (NSC) expects to demolish another 96 structured illegal jetties along Sungai Golok by March.
Director Datuk Mohd A Aruwan Ab Aziz said 25 jetties have already been removed in Pasir Mas and Tumpat districts.
He said the current focus is on 223 identified illegal jetties, with demolition being carried out in stages.
“Previous demolition operations have proceeded smoothly due to excellent cooperation between federal and state government agencies,” he told reporters.
Work was halted during the Northeast Monsoon for safety and will resume once weather conditions improve.
Priority is currently given to jetties built on government-owned land.
Actions regarding jetties on private land will be discussed further to ensure an orderly process.
The visit followed a tour of the Sungai Golok border security fence project by NSC Deputy Director-General Badrul Shah Mohd Idris.
Kelantan Police Chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat previously noted a significant drop in cross-border crime since illegal bases were closed in December 2024.
