KL police chief becomes first state top cop in Ironman Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus makes history as first state police leader to complete Ironman Malaysia endurance race.

KUALA LUMPUR: Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus has made history as the first state top police officer to participate in an IRONMAN Malaysia endurance race.

The 50-year-old led a team of 18 officers and personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police in the 2025 edition held in Langkawi.

Kuala Lumpur Police stated the participation reflected the team’s strong fighting spirit and physical resilience in facing extreme challenges.

The PDRM contingent achieved commendable results by finishing second in the relay category.

Corporal Muhammad Luqmanul Hakim Hamidi secured third place in the IRONMAN 70.3 Langkawi category.

Fadil successfully completed the demanding race in under 17 hours.

Now in its tenth edition, IRONMAN Malaysia attracted 1,500 athletes representing 56 countries.

The challenging race comprised a 3.8-kilometre swim followed by 180 kilometres of cycling.

Participants then completed the event with a full 42.2-kilometre marathon run. – Bernama
