Selangor KPDN launches PATUH programme to foster integrity and transparency in trade, starting with public markets and highway rest areas
PUTRAJAYA: The Selangor branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has emphasised that legal compliance is a long-term investment in building consumer trust.
Selangor KPDN director Mohd Zuhairi Mat Radey said the PATUH programme is expected to transform national trade into a more integrity-driven and consumer-friendly ecosystem.
He made these remarks in a statement issued for the programme’s launch at the Dengkil Public Market.
Mohd Zuhairi stated the programme aims to strengthen business compliance culture and ensure a conducive trade environment.
“This programme serves as an umbrella for several key KPDN initiatives aimed at creating a well-organised, ethical business environment,” he said.
The main objective is to increase traders’ awareness of compliance, encourage healthy competition, and protect consumer rights.
Two core initiatives introduced as pilot projects are ‘Pasar PATUH’ and ‘Zon Persinggahan PATUH’ (ZPP).
Pasar PATUH focuses on compliance among public market traders regarding clear pricing, accurate weighing equipment, and a clean business environment.
ZPP in Selangor involves seven PLUS highway rest and service areas as platforms for consumer education and integrity-based business models.
Strategic partners for Pasar PATUH include the Sepang Municipal Council and the Companies Commission of Malaysia Selangor.
ZPP involves cooperation with the Malaysian Highway Authority and PLUS Malaysia Berhad.
Inspections were conducted at about 30 premises at the Dengkil Public Market to assess compliance levels.
Mohd Zuhairi said traders at the market responded positively and had begun practising clear price displays. – Bernama
