Lorry crashes into 7 vehicles after brake failure in Puchong

A lorry with brake failure collided with seven vehicles in Bandar Puteri, Puchong on Thursday afternoon.

PETALING JAYA: A traffic accident involving multiple vehicles occurred in Bandar Puteri, Puchong on Thursday afternoon when a lorry collided with seven other vehicles.

According to Serdang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhamad Farid Ahmad, the incident took place at approximately 1.44pm on January 8 along Jalan Puteri 2/1.

The lorry had just exited a construction site and was heading toward Puchong town centre when its brakes allegedly failed, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.

The out-of-control lorry first struck two vehicles that had stopped at a traffic signal, then proceeded to hit five additional vehicles that were parked in the vicinity.

ACP Muhamad Farid confirmed that the lorry driver tested negative for drugs during urine screening.

Police reports have been filed by all vehicle owners affected by the collision.

Authorities are investigating the incident under Rule 10 LN166/59 of the Traffic Rules, which covers careless driving and failure to maintain proper control of a vehicle.

The Serdang police chief has appealed to witnesses or anyone with relevant information to assist investigators by contacting the Serdang district police headquarters at 03-8074 2222.
