Human Resources Ministry deploys volunteer squad for post-flood cleanup at ADTEC JTM Kangar, ensuring student exams resume this month
KANGAR: Post-flood rehabilitation at the Advanced Technology Training Centre (ADTEC JTM) Kangar campus has been bolstered by a dedicated volunteer squad.
The “Ihsan MADANI: Wira KESUMA” Squad is focused on cleanup, repairs and providing welfare aid to affected staff and students.
Human Resources Ministry secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof said a special committee was activated to assess flood impact, identifying Perlis as the worst-hit area.
Ministry personnel visited the campus to evaluate immediate assistance needs after it sustained significant damage.
“Today, we came to have a first-hand look at the damage and identify the type of immediate aid that can be given,” Azman told reporters.
He noted floods affected almost 50% of the 46-hectare training institution.
“We want to ensure there is no hindrance to the students’ learning process,” he added.
Examinations that were postponed will resume in the middle of this month, requiring swift facility repairs.
Cleanup and repair works in administrative buildings, dormitories and training facilities involved 180 ministry volunteers and 106 ADTEC students.
The KESUMA Disaster Fund channelled RM1,500 for cleaning equipment, while a zakat fund distributed RM500 to affected staff.
Several local companies collaborated by providing free manpower and equipment for the recovery effort. – Bernama
