PM Anwar says 82nd MTN meeting focused on enhancing land regulation, expediting approvals while protecting forests and state authority
PUTRAJAYA: The 82nd National Land Council meeting has prioritised strengthening land regulation to ensure inclusivity and protect public interests.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the measures would align land governance with current needs and realities.
He urged federal and state governments to enhance cooperation in accelerating land approval processes.
This would ensure development projects are implemented promptly for public benefit.
Anwar emphasised that while processes should be expedited, existing procedures must not be compromised.
“The states’ authority over land matters must be fully respected,” he said in a Facebook post.
The meeting reaffirmed Malaysia’s commitment to maintaining 50% forest cover nationwide.
This aligns with international aspirations and the 13th Malaysia Plan objectives for 2026-2030.
The MADANI government will pursue development balancing human needs with environmental sustainability.
Sustainability principles form a core component of the MADANI governance concept.
Chaired by the prime minister, MTN coordinates national land planning between federal and state governments.
It ensures optimal land utilisation balancing economic, social and environmental considerations. – Bernama
