Pahang Menteri Besar announces RM3.4 million in funding to boost youth leadership, education, sports, and skills

KUANTAN: The Pahang government has allocated about RM3.4 million this year to strengthen youth development comprehensively, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said.

He said the allocation would be used to enhance various aspects of youth development, including leadership, education, sports and skills development.

“We want our youths to participate in programmes that build confidence, foster creativity and innovation, and instil teamwork. They must become a generation that contributes positively to society.

“I want to see more young people in Pahang become technology innovators, digital entrepreneurs, world-class athletes, influencers who make a positive impact, and leaders of the community and the nation,” he told a press conference after officiating the closing ceremony of the Pahang Youth Festival here yesterday.

The festival, held in conjunction with the state-level National Youth Day celebration, ran for three days from last Friday at the Pahang Youth and Sports Complex (KOMBES), featuring 60 programmes and activities.

Describing youth development as the most important investment in Pahang’s future, he said the allocation for next year’s Pahang Youth Festival would be increased to RM500,000 from RM400,000 in 2026.

Meanwhile, in another development, Wan Rosdy, who is also Pahang Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman, said the coalition was ready to mobilise its machinery to assist in campaigning for the Negeri Sembilan state election.

The UMNO vice-president said the initiative had long been a BN practice, with its component parties supporting one another by deploying campaign machinery and manpower to strengthen election campaigns whenever a state election is held.

Earlier, Wan Rosdy was reported as saying that all of Pahang’s adopted constituencies had secured victories in the Johor state election, and he expressed his appreciation to all campaign workers who had spent 14 days in the state to help with the campaign.

The Johor state election produced a positive outcome for BN, which won 48 of the 56 seats contested.

For the Negeri Sembilan state election, the Election Commission (EC) has set polling day for Aug 1, nomination day for July 18 and early voting for July 28.
