Pahang flood victims drop to 79 as river levels remain high

Flood evacuees in Pahang fall to 79 people across four relief centres, though the Pahang River at Paloh Hinai is still above the danger level.

KUANTAN: The number of flood victims in Pahang has decreased to 79 people from 27 families.

They are housed at four temporary relief centres as of 8.30 am today.

This is down from 86 people from 29 families at five centres yesterday evening.

According to the Social Welfare Department’s Infobencana application, 14 people from four families are at the Kampung Semangat Community Hall in Kuantan.

Another 35 people from six families remain at the Kampung Baru Pertanian Community Hall in Maran.

In Pekan, 30 victims from 17 families are still staying at two relief centres.

These are Sekolah Menengah Sains Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah and Sekolah Kebangsaan Pulau Manis.

The Infobanjir website reported the Pahang River at Paloh Hinai, Pekan, remained above the danger level as of 8 am today.

Last week’s continuous heavy rain triggered flooding in several districts.

The number of evacuees exceeded 13,000 at the peak of the floods.
