Rapid Bus suspends driver following viral Jalan Klang Lama collision

Rapid Bus suspends a driver after a Klang Lama accident went viral, with the car owner alleging delays in claims handling

PETALING JAYA: Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd has suspended one of its drivers following a road accident involving a car along Jalan Klang Lama on March 11.

The company confirmed that the driver has been removed from operational duties pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

It added that it has been in contact with the affected motorist and is cooperating to facilitate necessary follow-up actions, the New Straits Times reported.

Dashcam footage of the incident, which occurred at a traffic light junction in Kuchai Lama involving a Rapid KL bus on route 652, went viral on social media.

The car driver shared the footage online alongside a detailed account of his experience.

In his post, the car driver alleged significant delays in communication and raised concerns over the handling of the matter, particularly regarding insurance claims.

He claimed that despite lodging a police report and repeatedly following up with the bus operator, he received only “standard responses” stating that the case had been escalated and remained under insurance review.

The victim expressed further frustration after being forced to repair his vehicle using his own insurance policy.

He stated that this resulted in the loss of his No-Claim Discount (NCD) and a subsequent increase in his premium costs.

He alleged that he did not receive a substantive update from the company for over a month.

Additionally, the victim raised questions regarding the mechanical integrity of the bus, suggesting possible brake issues may have contributed to the collision.

Rapid Bus has yet to comment on the specific allegations regarding the vehicle’s maintenance or the communication delays, as investigations remain ongoing.
